It's quite a foggy and inconclusive ending. The confusion with all the different threads and the far-fetched use of the term 'chromosome' is pretty disturbing. This is my second Ghosh book, I liked The Hungry Tide much better. There is, though, one approach to the book that most people have not thought of. It is a good idea, actually. Just the backstory is not functional enough to ferry the idea from the author's mind to ours. My thoughts on the book on my blog.
